    How to compress WebP images

    1. Add images. Drag and drop, click to choose or paste from the clipboard. Batches are fine.
    2. Pick quality or a target size. 75 is a good balance for photos, or choose “Under 100 KB” to hit an upload limit.
    3. Compare and download. Tap a thumbnail to compare before and after, then download one by one or as a ZIP.

    How the compression works

WebP images are re-encoded with Google’s libwebp at your chosen quality. If a file can’t be made smaller, we keep your original rather than handing you a bigger one.

    Get the biggest savings

Phone photos are often 4000 px wide, far more than a web page or email needs. Choosing “1920 px” under Resize typically cuts size dramatically on its own. Converting to WebP or AVIF saves even more. Need an exact limit? Try compress to 100 KB.

    Frequently asked questions

Will compressing reduce the quality of my photos?

At the default setting the difference isn’t visible for normal photos. Tap any thumbnail to compare the original and the result side by side.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Every image is processed inside your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is sent over the internet, which also makes it fast and safe for private photos.

Is it really free? Are there limits?

Yes. It’s free with no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. Your own device does the work, so there is no server cost per image.

Why didn’t a file get smaller?

Some images are already well optimised. If re-compressing would make a file larger, we keep your original. Try resizing or converting to WebP.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows and Chromebook. You can also add it to your home screen and use it offline.
